Q: Pro features needed in Photos

This is a wish list, not a question...

Regarding Photos application on El Capitan

Since Aperture was discontinued, I've been hoping that Apple would fold-in some of it's great features into Photos.

Understanding that the goal is to make the interface easy for the beginner user, I would love to see these items available perhaps in a "pro-mode", or at least as features that can be accessed with assignable key shortcuts.

  • The ability to rate photos by 1-5 stars was fantastic to sort through a large photo-shoot. (Buttons 1-5, and the "mark for delete" which I think was 9)
  • The loop for looking at details, accessible with one button.
  • The ability to toggle between thumbnail, full-window with thumbnail, full window, and full screen by pressing one button (v)
  • The ability to see at least some of the EXIF data in thumbnail or full-window mode.
  • Bringing back Aperture as a paid application!

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

No use in telling fellow users here - you need to tell Apple - http://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html

This is easily done using keywords and in the Photos keyword manager you can assign a keyboard shortcut to them

Yes, that's the workaround but it is very clumsy because you first have to open the keyword palette to assign keywords. The underlying theme to my points is that Photos does NOT cater to efficiency, only simplicity.

I can cull through and rate 500 photos in Aperture in half the time it takes in Photos.

I will certainly repost my request in the link you provided. Thanks.
