Aug 9, 2016 11:43 PM in response to pilotdoesvideosby Luis Sequeira1,★HelpfulAny particular reason why you are still using 10.1.3 on El Capitan?
Start by deleting preferences.
I don't recall if the method of holding down command and option at start was already available for that version.
If not, use Preference Manager by Digital Rebellion to clear the preferences.

Aug 9, 2016 6:43 AM in response to pilotdoesvideosby Russ H,Just to add that you really ought to up date your version of FCP X. 10.2.3 on El Capitan seems to be faster and perhaps the most stable combination to date.

Aug 11, 2016 11:17 AM in response to pilotdoesvideosby Luis Sequeira1,★HelpfulNormally one would advise you at this point to delete and reinstall the application.
This would, however, install 10.2.3, the current version. As Russ said, this is working very well with El Capitan, but only you would know why you are still on the older 10.1.3. Usually people resist upgrading either because they can't or won't upgrade the OS, or because they are in the middle of some important production (and, yes, it is usually not a good idea to do a major update mid-project).

Aug 11, 2016 12:10 PM in response to pilotdoesvideosby Russ H,Well, you could always zip a copy of the application to preserve the ability to roll back if anything goes wrong with the update. You'd also want to copy any libraries that you might want to work on in the old version, since they would be updated if opened by the new version of FCP and would then be incompatible with the old version.
One another thought – a long shot…you could try running FCP from a clean new user account.
