Q: ios 9.3.4 battery issues

I am using iphone 6 plus running ios 9.3.4. Ever since installing the 9.3.4 update. battery drains pretty quickly. Tried different settings going to low power mode. Changing the mail setting to Fetch. Turning off location service, Background refresh for all apps. Phone gets hot as it drains battery very quickly. I had same issue during the 9.3 update. had to reset and reinstall from scratch.

Please help as i do not want to reset my phone one more time.

I did this, THANK YOU! After it took a minute to do its thing... it started charging, turned on and it took a minute for my screen to work but it is charging now at least. I hope it maintains!

The last 2 updates have crippled my iPhone. I can no longer rely on it on a daily basis to have the battery life I need. My iPhone 6 Plus used to last all day without even considering a second charge. Now, I'm lucky to make it to lunch without even using it. The battery section of settings provides no insight. I've even picked it up from sitting idle for over an hour to find it is hot and somehow drained through 20% battery.

From what I gathered on google these updates were to patch exploits used by the jail breaking community. Now I want to know why as a customer that doesn't dabble into that, why I am being punished? Push out an update rolling all that back please; or at least make it possible to downgrade to 9.3.2. There is no possible way Apple can wait until iOS 10 release to address his problem.

Figured I would leave this here again since the lovely moderation team decided to delete my last post with no explaination or anything. Thanks for that.

I tried resetting Network Settings, but didn't have any luck. So I did as Sweetdevil did above - after reading a ton of forums - and I downgraded to 9.3.2. I did this because this is the last firmware that I had BEFORE I started experiencing any issues. If you want to do the same, you should do it ASAP while Apple is still signing off on the firmware download. Downloads can be found in the link below - make sure you select the correct device before you select the firmware download. Will let you know how it goes. If this doesn't work, I have a genius bar appointment tomorrow and I'll provide an update afterwards.

resetting the network settings did not work for me

I've read that some of you downleveled to 9.3.2, but did this resolve the battery drain issue?

I downgraded from 9.3.4 to 9.3.2 because that was the last firmware version that was glitch/battery draining free. This did not work for me and it's been about 24 hours. I just left the genius bar and they are dumbfounded. They want me to restore my phone again and restore it from a back-up from last week (before I started seeing problems with the software). Again, this is not hardware because they gave me a new phone this past Tuesday. The cloud only holds your previous 3 back-ups so be sure to stop backing up your phone if you want access to those files that may not have been corrupted. Will revert back after my restore (4th one!) . FYI I also Reset Privacy, Reset All Settings, Reset all Content and Setting - NONE of which solved the battery issue).

With 9.3.4 battery drain issue I realized that mail, was taking most of the battery. So I removed my google account from mail. Battery drain still continued so I looked at battery usage now it was showing calendar using most of the battery. I logged out of iTunes and iCloud restarted the phone battery power was holding good. i think after the upgrade some user are having problem with syncing mail, contact and calendar in their iCloud account. after relogging into all my mail account including iCloud my battery seems to hold power even with all services on except background refresh I alway have it off. And phone does not heat up anymore.

Holy crap. This update is nothing less than murderous to the battery. I'm pretty sophisticated and tried everything I know. Can't get to kernel logic but the discharge of battery is unreal. It might actually damage device. Mine was hot to the touch through a case!

    I downgraded to 9.3.2 yesterday.

The iPhone is no longer heating up that much as it did on 9.3.3 / 9.3.4, but the battery drain issue remained.

I logged out of the iCloud and logged in again, no change.

As already mentioned earlier, resetting network settings did not resolve the issue, too.

If noone else has another idea, I'll try resetting to factury delaults while being on 9.3.2.

The iPhone is nearly unusable now - Apple, please fix this issue ASAP.

I have the same battery drain issue. This morning I charged my iPhone till 100%, and within just 15 minutes of Safari surfing (no watching of videos), my battery drains to 88%. And I feel that the phone heats up a lot quicker too as it got uncomfortably warm around that time. Have tried reset and restart and the issue remains. Under my Battery usage, Safari takes up 41% of my battery resource and I'm unsure if that's normal.

I own an iPhone 6S Plus running iOS 9.3.4.

I don't really wish to downgrade as that'd probably mean I'd lose my important Messages and other Notes that have been there since I updated to iOS 9.3.4.

before downgrading make a backup on iTunes and you will lose nothing. every message you have will be there. My battery issue is solved after downgrading.

I have now tried erasing my iphone 5S and set up as new, battery drains slightly slower about 55% overnight as opposed to 94%. I did set up the phone with my iCloud backup. Would it be better if I set phone up as new ignoring any iCloud backups? Don't want to down grade if there is a work around. My battery lasts 2-3 days when I had iOS 9.3.2. Husband's iPhone and our respective iPads updated to iOS 9.3.4 without any battery issues, only the 1 iPhone that is having battery drains.

    Hey everybody -

I had the same issue.  The battery drained after 3 hours.  At one point, it dropped from 10% to 8% to 1% in less that 30 seconds.  It was ridiculous.

I fixed it by performing a soft reset.  I have performed soft resets on multiple occasions, so I can't believe that it wasn't the first thing I had tried, but it worked!

Hopefully, if someone has not tried it already, it will work for them.

Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons simultaneously for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.  You can let go of both buttons after the Apple logo appears.  Your phone will go through the usual process of starting up.  You'll be back in your home screen.  (Instructions from Ubergizmo - I'm too lazy to write them myself).

This is occurring on all three of our families iPhones.  We are able to watch the battery percentage drop before our eyes.  I'm now forced to charge my iPhone 6S Plus 3-4 times a day when previously it would survive the entire day without charging.

    APPLE PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE!
