Q: Apple Watch Settings glance, Airplay button

Hi everybody,

while Apple watch is pretty easy to use with its self-explanatory menues and buttons there is one command that I haven't found any use for it - it's the Airplay button on the Settings glance.

Has anyone found a function for it? If yes, please write the example.

Thanks!

    Hi

When controlling music playback from your watch with your iPhone selected as the music source, the AirPlay button within the Settings Glance does not presently offer any functions.

When playing music with Apple Watch selected as the music source (using the synced playlist), the AirPlay button in the Settings Glance enables switching between Bluetooth sources that have been paired directly with the watch (eg headphones, speakers).

When playing music from the paired iPhone, to send audio to another device using AirPlay:

    • On your watch, open the Music app > Now Playing > press firmly on the screen > tap the AirPlay button > choose a device (for example: iPhone, AirPlay speaker, Apple TV).

Thanks for the replies everybody, but let me elaborate my question just a bit more. Where I live there is no Apple Music service. From numerous posts regarding Apple Music app on Apple Watch I understand that there is a function for Airplay, but in scenario like mine where there is no Apple Music, Airplay button has no function at all (at least from what I've seen so far). Even the Apple tv is commanded throught Remote app on the Watch.

Hence my queston, what is that button doing in the Settings glance?

And for you who have the Music app, what does that command do directly on the Settings glance?

Thanks a million for everyone's effort!

    Hi

The button is not limited to being used only in conjunction with Apple Music.

When a music playlist has been synced to the watch from the paired iPhone (this can include, for example, music purchased from iTunes, owned music that has been copied to the iTunes library and synced to the iPhone via a computer and/or music that has been downloaded from Apple Music), the button can be used to output music to a connected Bluetooth speaker instead of to the connected Bluetooth headphones.

I'm afraid that no-one here can tell you why Apple chose to design the software that way - this is a user-based community.
