Your Apple ID cannot end in @icloud.com?

This is unacceptable. The Apple folks need to provide a clear and open reason why any email address at all should not be an acceptable Apple ID. The big problem I have is the email address I had used is an @att.net email address. These have been thoroughly hacked I am discontinuing its use at the end of the year. My Apple ID will cease to be a valid email address. Given the history of other email domains and how many of them are being run by shoddy vendors I would really like to put all my eggs in the Apple basket.

Problem I have with this is the auto fill on the Iphone uses the non icloud address, in my case a .net address, i'd rather use the icloud address but can't see any way to change it.

There isn't any help we can give you, once you have chosen a non iCloud address as your Apple ID you can't change it to an iCloud address.

Whilst your iCloud address will never be your primary Apple ID address, you can still use it to log into iCloud, iTunes, iMessage and the like.

That doesn't make any sense, particularly since Apple IDs for most of us would have been created well before the advent of icloud.com! I know a lot of us would like to use icloud.com for everything Apple - surely there has got to be a change you all can make on your end to allow this.

Apple has ended the @me, and @icloud account availability to new Apple users, in addition the @apple.com accounts are only for Apple employees. If you already have one it is currently still available for email but the iCloud restriction seems to be associated with this change. This information was provided to me by sr. Apple rep during a phone call regarding iCloud with Apple about a week ago but I am unable to find documentation on line to confirm what was told me.
