Thanks for checking out the Apple Support Communities! I understand you're having some issues with your sound on your iPhone and I'm happy to offer some suggestions to help you.
I recommend to take a look at all of the steps listed in the article below. There are several troubleshooting steps here that should have your sound working again in no time.
If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker
Cheers!

Aug 11, 2016 12:00 AM in response to MelissaEdwardsby russellfromsalford,I have a similar problem after iOS 9.3.4 update - I get no speaker sound from videos in apps but ringtones work. Also headphones works fine. Apple screwed something up with this update

Aug 11, 2016 10:03 PM in response to MelissaEdwardsby codyet,Phone calls are connected but there's no sound at all after this update, and people cannot hear my voice from the call either... Now I have to use app to make a call, but I still can't pick up any calls.

Aug 15, 2016 11:54 AM in response to zargoshby Zwischy,I Have this problem as well. This was occurring with my iPhone 5c when I purchased my iPhone 6s and the no sound issue followed me through the data transfer to the new phone. So it would seem to be software (iOS?) issue. Also, turn off the wifi assist feature if you don't want your data plan eaten alive.

Aug 17, 2016 4:04 PM in response to MelissaEdwardsby Leo My Eyes,I have the similar issue, had a battery replaced and suddenly my ear speaker stopped working, picked up calls and can't hear a thing, turned on loudspeaker and could continue with a call. I even tried listening to audio notes through the ear speaker but nothing, the sensor will remove sound from the loudspeaker but no sound comes from the ear speaker.

Aug 24, 2016 11:01 AM in response to MelissaEdwardsby JeffMo79,I just experienced same thing with no sound on calls right after downloading the 9.3.4 update. I could make and receive calls but the caller could never hear me and I couldn't hear them. I turned the phone off for 2 minutes and rebooted it - worked fine after that.

Aug 25, 2016 12:53 PM in response to MelissaEdwardsby suzster,I have iOS 9.3.4 and also often cannot hear people I call. Apple PLEASE fix this. "Phones" are meant to be able to make PHONE calls. Can I return my phone since it is called an "iPhone" and "ICannotPhone" ???
It is so annoying and embarrassing how often I call my friends and family on my iPhone SE and the call connects, without my hearing a dial tone and I cannot hear anything.
Their landline and mobile phones ring and mine does not.
So there I go again turning off my brand new iPhone and restarting it.
Wish I'd have stuck with my iPhone 4S which never had any problems.
I can only hope Warren Buffett is having this problem which maybe will prioritize getting it fixed.

Aug 26, 2016 2:53 AM in response to MelissaEdwardsby danielhyuuga,I have this issue as well. Thought it is my network but when using loudspeaker I would hear their voice. The ear speaker would only work if I used Whatsapp calls....
