Apply Quartz Filter to PDF on command line

Apple used to include a command line utility called "quartzfilter", which let you apply a Quartz Filter to a PDF form a shell script or Terminal window. However, the script was removed from OS X in Lion, or possibly earlier.

There's a locked discussion about it here:

So, because the discussion is locked, this post is an "answer" to it. If anyone is still looking for a command line utility to apply quartz filters to PDFs, I've written one in python. It's available here.

I realise it's been six years since the question was asked, but I came upon the locked discussion when I was looking for a similar answer. I couldn't find one, so I made one.
