Q: New Ipad mini 2 can't delete old backup

My old iPad mini 2 died and I got a new one.  I keep getting a message saying my iCloud is almost full.  I went to settings and I can see my 2 back ups.  When I go to try and delete the old one from the new iPad it says that it's in use and won't let me delete it.

I have deleted the old device from the iCloud for windows, but it is still on the iPad.

    Hello operababe,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding you're unable to delete your iCloud backups. I know it is very important to have iCloud storage space available, especially with a new iPad mini. I am happy to help.

Since you're getting an error that the backup is in use, it's possible your iPad is still restoring from the backup.  Check the restore status in Settings > iCloud > Backup. There it will show if you're still restoring from a backup and give you an option to stop restoring. If you're not restoring the backup please restart your iPad and try to delete the backups again. Here is some additional information on managing your iCloud storage:
