I tried to install Windows 8.1 on my MAcBook Pro mid2010 running El Capitan- failed

I tried to install Windows 8.1 on my MacBook Pro mid2010 running El Capitan-

Boot camp could locate the iso file, or the CD the I burned out of it.

Any idea? should I try with Win 7?

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), bootcamp

Hi Loner,

Yes I did burn W8.1 to physical DVD and inserted in the built-in DVD reader on my MacbookPro 15"mid 2010 with El Capitan 10.11.6 but the BC always told me: cannot find the installer disc. I tried 2 ways of burning, (1)- copying the iso disk whole (2) first opening the ISO disk image and copying the files and folders separately using sudo. Both ways gave the same answer"cannot find the installer".

Do you think I have more chances with Win7 and bootcamp 5.1.56... ?

Thanks

Your ISO should be about 4-4.5 GB. Right-click on the ISO, and select Burn from the pop-up menu. Expand the Burn dialog box and set options to be lowest burn rate, with verification enabled and mount after burn. Test it on the OSX side for mounting. Use OSX Terminal command 'drutil' to eject the DVD. Test with BCA. Use the last 'Install' option and partition and test.
