Q: My Apple devices cannot connect to my HP air printer any more

Our householdusesawireless HP inkjet printer with two PC laptops, an Apple MacBook Pro,Apple IPad, and Two Apple IPhones. All devices used to access and operate the printer without difficulty. Recently, the Apple devices are not able to "find" the AirPrint printer unless the printer is first shut down and then restarted.The fix is only temporary, because the next Apple print request again, requires shutting the printer down and restarting. All Pc devices have worked wirelessly without a problem.

    Hello Meuse42,

    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding you're unable to AirPrint from your Apple devices. I know it's important to be able to print from all devices. I am happy to help. You'e done a great job so far trying to resolve this on your own. Since restarting hasn't resolved the issue please try these additional steps:

    • On your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, verify that your device is using the latest version of iOS available and that the app you're printing from is up to date. 
    • On your Mac, use Software Update to update OS X and apps you've purchased from the Mac App Store.
    • Check with your printer's manufacturer to see if any firmware updates are available for your printer model. 
    • You can connect an AirPrint device to your network either through bridging, or a direct connection to your Wi-Fi network. 
    • AirPrint devices connected to the USB port of an Apple AirPort Base Station or AirPort Time Capsule don't use AirPrint. If your printer includes AirPrint, connect it directly to your Wi-Fi network or the Ethernet LAN port on your Base Station to print wirelessly.
