you need to install iTunes, and keep in mind the iPad is not an external device you can drag and drop to.
When connected to a computer you are limited to assets in your iTunes library, iCloud, backups and updates.

What are you trying to accomplish? Do you hope to use the iPad as a second screen? Do you hope to move files between the devices? Or do you just want to set up what JimmyCMPIT describes, so you can backup the iPad to your computer?
I Was trying to use my iPad Pro as a drawing tablet. I cant Connect my HP and my iPad pro there not compatible programs is what I'm being told that Astro pad only for Mac so now I'm waiting to be refunded 29.99 for that program but I don't know if I'm going to be.... SO if u know a program I could use I really need the help... I trying to use photoshop
Yes, Astro Pad only works with Mac.
