Q: MacBook Pro turns off when magsafe cable moved around
Recently my 13" MacBook Pro (early 2011) has been turning off sometimes when it is placed down on a surface with the magsafe charger attached. After a bit of playing I can replicate the issue by moving the magsafe charger cable around while the connector is attached. If i just remove the connector entirely then the laptop goes onto battery power as it should.
I also noticed that if I click the battery charge indicator on the side of the laptop after it turns off the way described above none of the LEDs light up regardless of the battery charge level. I can get the laptop going again by reattaching the power cable and waiting for the orange or green LED.
So far I've reset the SMC but that doesn't seem to help. Any thoughts? My guess is a faulty magsafe charger but wanted to check before ordering one.
