    Hello there, Debraspace!

It sounds like you're having some trouble exiting out of the Purchased section of the App Store on your Mac. I know it's not a fun experience when software doesn't work as expected, but no worries, we can help you get this issue with the App Store sorted out.

The easiest, and quickest, way to fix issues with apps freezing on your Mac is to start by forcing that app to close and then re-opening it. To force the App Store to close, follow these steps:

To close an app normally, choose Quit from the app menu in the menu bar, or press Command-Q. If an app is unresponsive, you can force it to close using Force Quit:

    1. Choose Force Quit from the Apple menu, or press Command-Option-Esc.
This is similar to pressing Control-Alt-Delete on a PC.
    2. Select the unresponsive app in the Force Quit window, then click Force Quit.

Force an app to close on your Mac

If the App Store still gives you problems after re-opening, force quit the app again. Hold the Shift key on your keyboard while you re-open the App Store once more. Holding Shift while opening an app on your Mac will temporarily prevent that app from re-opening its documents and windows. If the issue persists this time, the best next step would be to simply restart your Mac. To do that, select the  in the upper-left corner of your screen and then select "Restart".

    Take care!
