Q: FaceTime not recognising AppleID

I use a MacBook Pro (2014 model) and it is up to date with all software. I usually use FaceTime on my iPad or iPhone and have only just tried to log in on the Mac. It won't recognise my Apple ID, which is set up on all my other devices (and iCloud).

 

Nor can I access FaceTime > Preferences as Preferences is not highlighted.

 

FaceTime doesn't actually chuck me out or tell me it doesn't recognise my ID, it must keeps taking me back to the login page when I click Submit.

 

Any help would be gratefully received.
