El Capitan Doesn't Recognize Outdated Apps

Made the leap from Snow Leopard (OSX10.6) to El Capitan the other day and am still adjusting to the newness.

One thing that's bugging me is that I keep seeing notifications that I have 3 updates available:

iPhoto

Aperture

and a software I tried once but never use

I'm aware that iPhoto and Aperture aren't supported in El Capitan ... so why does it keep bugging me to update them?

I can't find anything under Preferences that would turn off notifications. Must I completely erase the files from my hard drive to resolve the issue?

Thanks in advance for any assistance offered.

It would appear that obtaining that version is difficult ... at least that's what I'm reading on the community boards.

Since iPhoto has been bundled automatically with OSX for years, I can't understand why I'm seeing references to "purchasing" upgrades .... ???

The App Store doesn't recognize that I ever "purchased" iPhoto and so it won't let me upgrade.

Sorry for the confusion. My initial post was to find out how to disable notifications for iPhoto and Aperture since I'd heard that neither works in El Capitan. Couldn't understand why I'd get update notifications.

Then, some responses in this thread indicated that Aperture 3.61 works with El Capitan. So I went back to trying to update via the App Store and now I'm getting error messages of a different kind. I'm on a wild goose chase after that one. 😕

Meanwhile, JimmyCMPIT's response tells me I can hide certain notifications and refers to "CTRL+LMB" but I have no idea what LMB stands for.

And I still don't understand why the App Store would even bother to tell me about updates to software I can't use on my system. 😕😕😕
