Q: Apple TV disconnect during streaming from iPad

My 3rd Gen AppleTV running 7.2.1 (8011) has been disconnecting during streaming from my iPad to my TV, also losing Wifi password.  Any fixes or tip to resolve this?

How does it work for channels on ATV? Is the problem only with AirPlay? Try restarting the router, then ATV, in case it's something simple.

If you're on WiFi, check for interference. Get the Apple AirPort Utility app from the app store. Be sure to enable WiFi scan in Settings before using. Run it and tap the Scan button in the corner. (Ignore the fact that it cannot find an AirPort.) Check the channels used by the strongest nearby networks. They're ordered in decreasing order by strength, yours should be at the top. Try to pick a channel that's not used. 1, 6, 11, and any of rht 5 GHz channels are best. Login to your router and change the WiFi to the selected channel.

Also, it may help to set the WiFi encryption to WPA2-AES (CCMP) with no dual-mode or TKIP. This is also in the router WiFi settings.

Thank you.  It seems like the issue is interference.  If I change the 2.5 GHz channel on the router (from "Auto") to 1, won't all devices on the network use that same channel, creating a potential for more interference?

Your router only supports a single WiFi network. The auto channel just tells it to select the channel by some internal method. Choosing a specific channel is no better or worse.

If you feel you're getting interference just from heavy traffic on your own network, that may cause delays in playback, but should not cause dropping the connection as you described.
