Q: Apple ID is fine - does icloud.com email account need a password?

Hi,

After the recent Windows update (Anniversary Upgrade) I had to create a icloud.com email account for my icloud contacts and calendar to sync with Outlook 2016 on my PC (previously it was working fine without a icloud.com account).

I created a icloud.com account from my iphone, and it works fine. I'm syncing my contacts and calendar to the PC now as I was able to re-install the Windows iCloud client and it set itself up in Outlook 2016.

The icloud.com email account doesn't have a password though. I will never use this account for email (it's just there so I can sync contacts and calendar vetween my iphone, ipad and PC) but i'm wondering it it can be easily hacked - having no password. Or is it actually using my appleID password? (it's set for a different "non icloud" email address)

My iphone/ipad and Outlook on the PC are automatically set up for the icloud.com email account - but at no point did I ever specify a password - just a name (xxxx@icloud.com) for the account.

Does this question make sense? Do you see why I'm confused?

Everything works fine - I'm just worried about security on th eaccount.
