Personal Area Network

I currently have ethernet connection, and have no wifi, I have a app on my phone that allows me to talk with my wife when I had wifi. Now that I only have ethernet connection I was told I could connect my Iphone 6 to my Mac via PAN personal area network to be able to use my phone. I tried to connect to thru sharing but it wouldn't connect my bluetooth thru my phone. Is it possible to connect the two to use my phone?
