How to make Pages Open Blank Document

I have been using the new iWork suite and want to be able to open the application and it go straight to a blank document and bypass the screen that lets you select a document to work on or create a new document. This is not the template chooser but rather the finder window with a "New Document" button at the bottom left. Just want it to open a blank document when I click one of the iWork suite.

I have already set in preference for this to do open a blank document but it still opens the finder window.

Pages v5.6.2 on OS X 10.11.6, will only honor the Use template (specific template) Preferences setting — when choosing New Document from the File Chooser, or File menu : New... . Yes, it should suppress the File Chooser altogether — and does not. There is no user override for this behavior.

Of course, you understand the Pages '09 v4.3 and Pages v5.6.2 are entirely different applications with polar opposite consideration for user requirements.

Viking (and Ian),

On my release of Pages v5.6.2 (2573) on OS X 10.11.6, the Preference setting that is intended to force Pages to open directly to a specified template — works as it should when launching Pages from the Dock. It goes directly to a new blank document in Portrait orientation.

I reset the preferences from "Use Template Chooser" to "Use template: Blank", closed the preferences, Quit Pages, then launched Pages from the Dock.

It also worked as it should when launching Pages by double clicking the application's icon in Finder, clicking the icon in Launchpad, or choosing Pages.app from the Apple Menu's Recent Items list.

Barry
