Q: ipod classic 160gb 7th gen to 256 gb ssd upgrade
Hi All
Having just purchased the above ssd drive (fashion sprout on eBay) I have installed it and is powering up okay but getting red x displayed. I have had to replace the original toshiba drive as it was starting to skip songs and trouble with it updating but have never had this red x issue before i installed this new ssd drive. I have looked in-depth on the internet (there was another post on here about the same issue in April but have had no response from the OP). My question being - is the 7th gen ipod classic capable of running this type of upgrade, the seller on eBay seems to think so and my searches on the net would point to this also.
When plugging the ipod into my laptop it is not finding anything at all, nothing in iTunes either. Have tried going into check the drive on the ipod but doesn't show up in diagnostics. Won't let me put ipod into disc mode either. Have been on to the seller with the problems highlighted above and they have been responding with generic help mainly things like "make sure the ribbon is properly fitted etc". The seller provided me with two ribbons which are the same although the date stamped on them is 2004, so i tried my original ribbon which is connected to the original toshiba hdd (marked 2009) but never got any joy with this route either.
Could the SDD be a dud or has anyone out there got this specific drive to work? I trust it doesn't go against any rules by posting the link to it here:

Beginning to wish I had gone down the SXDC route as there are a few success stories for this type of upgrade. Might ask for a refund, but happy to get this working if it is compatible....
Sorry for the waffle, thanks for any help.
