Q: use as back up of my mac without being connected to wifi
Hi I have changed broadband providers and used to use Apple Extreme as a base station and a time capsule to back my mac up to over wifi. However on my new wifi i no longer wish to connect the Apple extreme and time capsule to extend the wifi as the wifi coverage is much better with my new broadband provider. Can i still use my time capsule to back up my mac to using an ethernet without the time capsule being connected to any wifi. If i can how do i do this? Thanks

You can do this, but the downside to this type of setup is that every time that you want to back up the Mac, you will need to turn off the WiFi on the Mac and manually connect an Ethernet cable from your Mac to one of the three LAN <--> ports on the back of the Time Capsule.
Then, when the backup is complete, you will need to manually disconnect the Ethernet cable and turn the WiFi back on at the Mac so that it can join the network provided by your provider's modem/router.
