Q: Magic Trackpad 2 no longer working

Hi,

My Magic Trackpad 2 is no longer working. I have tried connecting it to an Apple charger overnight but still no response. Switched it on and off, connected to mac via lightning lead but nothing. Is there anything else I can try?

Thanks

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11)

I'm trying to work out what kind of Apple Charger you connected the MM2 to overnight.   As far as I can see there is only one way, the correct way, using the lightning lead to your computer or keyboard USB socket.   I'm wondering if you damaged the mouse by using an unconventional way of charging it.   This is what Apple says.

Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse 2, and Magic Trackpad 2 have a built-in rechargeable battery that lets you use the devices for extended periods between charges.

You can check your device's charge level by choosing the device's name from the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen.

When it's time to charge your device's battery, connect a Lightning to USB cable to the Lightning port on the device, then connect the other end of the cable to your Mac or a USB power adapter.   For the fastest battery charging performance, be sure your device is switched on when connecting the Lightning to USB cable.

    Hi,

I plugged it into an apple USB power adapter (I called it charger) to give it a full charge overnight (as when the mac is off so is the power from the USB ports).

Was just hoping someone might of had the same problem and had a fix, unlikely as there is only the lightning port and a switch. Guess I will just have to make the time to return the unit.

    Richard.

If you plug in as Apple advise, you should, within two or three minutes, get up several hours of charge.   Which means you can start to work.   If this doesn't happen, get the trackpad back to Apple.   They will test it and if they can repeat the problem, they will exchange it.
