iCloud

Q: combine photo libraries

I started using Photos then went back to iPhoto (when Photos first came out)

Well I am ready to commit to Photo's how to I get them all into Photos (I have some in one, and most in iPhoto)

You can not

You mostly can by uploading each to iCloud Photo Library (this does not combine projects or face albums) or using PowerPhotos which merges no projects and the selecte version of the photos

can I export the smaller Photos library which has really no books albums etc to a folder (just jpgs) then delete that Photos Library? Then drag Rhodes jpgs into the large iPhoto library?

THen hen how do I get iPhoto to ask me to migrate to Photos?

Yes - but that only adds one version of the photos with selected metadata to the iPhoto library - it does not merge things

it would be better to migrate the iPhoto library to Photos (drag it to the Photos icon in the Dock) and merge them using ICPL or PowerPhotos - and be sure to set the finished, merged library as the system library in the Photos references

well, I was impatient and exported and then imported (like previous post)
I guess my question is can I now delete the iphoto library?

You can but it is best to archive it first in case you need it for any reason
