Q: watch backup question
I unpaired my 38m apple watch sport when it needed to be sent in for service. Now that I have my replacement watch it is not showing a backup for the last 8 months. I thought my watch performed a back up when unpairing and with my iCloud backup every night? All latest iOS and WatchOS versions (not beta). What can I do to prevent this from happening again? Can you see what backups exist before unpairing?
Apple Watch, watchOS 2.2.1, null

Hi
The Watch app on iPhone takes a backup of your watch when you unpair your watch via the app, subject to your watch being connected to your iPhone at the time:
To check for Apple Watch backups on your iPhone:
- Go to Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage > under "Storage" (not "iCloud"), tap on Manage Storage > tap on Watch > any backups are listed under Apple Watch Backups.
Your iPhone can be automatically backed up each day, subject to this feature having been enabled and subject to certain conditions being met:
- In Settings > iCloud > turn on Backup.
- Connect your iPhone to a power source.
- Connect your iPhone to a Wi-Fi network.
- Check that the screen is locked.
- Check that you have sufficient available space in iCloud for the backup.
