Is it possible to load podcasts (using podcasts app) on iPhone without having to have these load on iTunes on Mac at the same time?

I subscribe, download and listen to podcasts on my iPhone (6S 9.3.4). When I sync with my Mac (2008 Macbook OS Lion) it syncs podcasts too (obviously) but it is taking up too much space on my Mac, and I never listen to any podcasts on the Mac. When I deselect the sync podcasts option in iTunes (12.2.2.25), it tells me it will delete all the podcasts on the iPhone too, which I don't want. Is there a way of downloading podcasts to the phone without also syncing them to iTunes as well?

Thanks

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

I download my podcasts directly to the phone already. What I want do is to stop iTunes copying them to the Mac every time I sync the phone with the Mac using iTunes. I want everything else to sync but not podcasts. Unchecking the sync podcasts box tells me I'm going to have all the podcasts on my phone deleted, which I don't want.

What I have done for now is just switch off wi-fi syncing so that my Mac doesn't fill up with podcasts I have already listened to. I hope that's made my question clearer.

Ahh I see. The option you have already found is the only way I believe. I dont use the sync features, I let iCloud take care of all of that so I have never had to change those settings.

I think the message is saying anything that the mac put onto the phone will be removed - The syncing features are more based before iCloud syncing was introduced, and the most common way of syncing content was to sync with iTunes - sure someone else can confirm on here if they happen to know that level of detail.

Sorry I couldn't assist.
