Have not been able to reset my phone and recover since I forgot icloud identidy and password.

Have not been able to reset my phone and recover since I forgot icloud identidy and password. My apple id does not work on this. I'm not very tech savvy but I'm sure there should be a simple solution after going through security steps.

Your iCloud Account is usually your email address where you get iTunes Billing emails. Try following instructions in this link to recover your iCloud Account:

If you forgot your Apple ID - Apple Support

Hopefully that will get you access back again

Once you find your ID, enter your Apple ID and click Forgot Password,
