Q: iBooks author stuck installing

I'm trying to download iBooks author but how long does it take to install? I tried quitting the Apple Store but the app still says it's installing. It has been saying that for over ten minutes. How do I abort it and start again?  In my applications folder it just says 'app store download' and it's not opening. I have the right OXS for it, by the way.

Thanks in advance

    Hello Bubbity,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. I know how important getting iBooks Author installed is to you! If I understand correctly, you are unable to complete the download and install of iBooks Author, and you're not getting any error messages either. Here is what I suggest to resolve your issue and get iBooks Author installed and working:

    1. Quit the Mac App Store and find any iBooks Author file in the Applications folder and send it to the Trash and empty the Trash. Then, try running First Aid on your startup disk using Disk Utility tool, as this can correct simple issues like you're experiencing. Once that is done, then restart your Mac and try downloading and installing iBooks Author again.

Disk Utility (El Capitan): Repair a disk

OS X El Capitan: Delete files and folders

    2. If that process doesn’t resolve your issue, use Safe Mode to start up your Mac so that it performs certain checks, delete system cache files, verifies your startup disk, and attempts to repair directory issues if needed. Then try downloading and installing iBooks Author again. If you're able to successfully install, then restart your Mac normally and open iBooks Author.

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up
Limited graphics performance in OS X recovery or safe mode

    Cheers!

Thanks jdo...I meant to come back here to say I resolved it in the end.  It actually took 40 minutes to download!  I was being too impatient but I got there in the end!

I am having a small issue now with the formatting but am waiting for the support team to get back to me.  If not, I'll post my question here and you may be able to help.

    Many thanks again
