I see that you're wanting to know if it's okay to delete the iPhoto app from your MacBook Air now that you have upgraded to Photos. I definitely know how important it is to have as much space as possible on your MacBook so that you have room for new files and apps, and so your Mac runs smoothly.
To answer your question, as long as you have imported photos from iPhoto to Photos and have verified that you see all of your photos in the Photos app, it's perfectly okay to delete iPhoto. If you need help removing iPhoto, you can follow the steps listed in the following support article:
OS X El Capitan: Install, update, and uninstall apps
Since you mentioned having limited space on your MacBook Air, you may want to consider taking some additional steps to help increase space, outside of just deleting iPhoto. We have an awesome support article that provides some great steps on how to increase disk space. You can find the link to that article below.
OS X El Capitan: Increase disk space
Just so you know, both of the articles I referenced are for OS X El Capitain but even if you're still running OS X Yosemite, the steps are still the same.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communties.
Have an awesome day!
