Q: updated to IOS 9.4.3 Now essentially nothing works on my phone

I updated to IOS 9.4.3 this morning via ITunes.  Now essentially nothing works on my updated phone. No safari, no email, no weather etc.  Pretty basic use every day stuff.  Phone has been a paperweight for the last hour.

What happens when you try and use things. Are you seeing error messages? What have you done to try and troubleshoot this issue. I've not encountered any issues with updating iOS 9.3.4, as have a large number of others. You need to troubleshoot your device. User troubleshooting includes restart, reset, restore from backup, restore to factory; testing after each step.

I have rebooted the phone and this did not resolve the issue.  Will not be in a position to restore from back up until end of business day.  Plus back up was done AFTER update was complete.  Would this impact the quality of the reboot any?

I can make a call and have asked someone to send me a test text message to see if this function works.

PS:  When asked to check for update I get a "unable to check for update" message.

If you did this update OTA, on the phone itself, it is possible something went wrong. It may be in your best interest to do the restore from backup with iTunes later today. You should have made a backup before updating, and one is always made when updating from iTunes. I'm not sure about iCloud backups, since I don't use them, nor do I update via the device. Since the reset didn't work, and you don't seem to be connecting to the internet, you can try resetting the network settings to see if that clears things. Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. That will also delete any wi-fi passwords, and you will have to add them back again after joining wi-fi networks.

The reset network settings seems to have solved the problem.  Thanks Chris J!

You're welcome. Good luck with it, and if you do have any additional issues, you could use the restore from backup, as that will load a fresh copy of the iOS.
