Q: albums on my iMac are shaded out and not accessible on my ipad

I have photo albums on my iMac, thus theoretically in the iCloud, but I only see the album name on my iPad.  The album is shaded and indicates nothing available.  On the iMac, the photos are readily viewable.

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.2.1

Try going to iCloud.com to see if the items are there and whether they are from the device or the computer. That should show whether the device or the computer isn't syncing. If the computer, try going to System Preferences/iCloud and stop syncing. Wait a couple of minutes, then recheck syncing. If the device, go to Settings/iCloud and do the above. You can also try signing out of iCloud and then sign in again.

Thank you for the response.  Your explanation certainly added to my understanding of photos and the process involved in managing the iCloud.  I have not resolved my issues yet, but I appreciate your effort.

You are welcome. Were the photos at iCloud.com?
