Q: unable to print any document from iMAC

The only type of file that will print is email (Gmail account).  When trying to print any type of MS Office document, PDF, or HTML file, the page is blank.  I have restarted both my iMac (el Capitan OS) as well as my printer (Epson XP-400), no change.  Problem just started today (12 Aug 16).

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Try resetting the printing system by following the directions in Resolve printer issues on your Mac - Apple Support and then re-install the printer and re-test. You may want to re-start in Safe Mode after the reset, this will clear some caches.

Hi,  I tried following the directions you provided to the extent that I removed the printer and re-added it.  I apologize as I may not have been clear in my initial problem statement.  The printer attempts to print what is being requested, however there is no data/text/tables being actually printed.  As mentioned earlier, I am able to print any email from my Gmail account with no issues.

Any further assistance would be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

Did you reset the printing system per the directions in the advice letter. You said you removed  and re-added the printer, but did not state how.

Also, you did not state what printer you have. If it is an older printer, the manufacturer may have dropped support on it. In addition if we knew how it is attached (USB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc..) that may be helpful.

    Hello,

BLUF......documents (with data) are now able to be printed.  The only change I made was to re-seat all the ink cartridges in the printer and restart.  No idea why email was printing before the re-seat of the cartridges.

    Thank your very prompt replies.
