Q: Pop ups

I am at my wits end with my school computer this week. I am a technology teacher and I have done everything I know how to do and then some. I am having a problem with Firefox, Safari and Chrome pop ups sending me to a search engine just for clicking in certain places on a webpage. All three browsers have Pop ups blocked. All three browsers have been reset to default settings.

I started with this goal in mind and deleted at lease 5-7 different adware/spyware programs from my computer. I had MacKeeper, Trovi, Sofware-updater, My Updater, a file called shoppy something, the v____ one. I'm having trouble remembering specifically. Anyway I have deleted all of those and I have read any community posts prior to now and followed the directions to no avail. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

    When this happens:

    Remove Scam pop-up.

    1. Click  in the menu bar and choose “Force Quit”.

In the window that opens up, select “Safari”  and click “Force Quit.

    2. Relaunch Safari holding the shift key down.

The pop-up that crashed Safari will not return.

    3. Turn off wifi and turn it back on.

Turn off Wifi. Click Wifi icon in the menu bar and select “Turn Wifi off”.

        Visit another website.

        You won’t have internet connection.

Turn on Wifi. Click Wifi icon in the menu bar and select “Turn Wifi on”.

        Select your Network.

    4. Delete Cookies

Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and other website data:

        Click the “Details” button.

Remove all cookies except  ones from Apple, your internet service provider and banks.

You will have t do this after starting up in Safe Mode to prevent adware

from interfering with the removal of adware .

    1. Shut down the computer.

Press the power button. Immediately after you hear the startup sound,

press and hold the Shift key.

The Shift key should be pressed as soon as possible after startup,

but not before the startup sound.

Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo on the screen.

Startup will take longer than usual.

Screen flickering is normal in Safe Mode.

Login to your account. Launch Safari.

        Enter this address       https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/mac/

        in the Safari address bar.

Download,   Install , open,  and run it by clicking “Scan”  button   to remove adware, if present.

        Once done, quit MalwareBytes.

    2. Safari > Preferences > Extensions

        Turn all extensions off

or  uninstall all extensions you haven’t installed knowingly.

    3. Safari > Preferences >  Search > Search Engine :

        Select your preferred   search engine.

    4. Safari > Preferences > General > Homepage:

         Set your Homepage.

    5. Restart normally from  menu in the menu bar.
