Podcasts won't auto-delete

I recently restored my phone from a previous backup (trying to recover locally-saved notes that disappeared for no reason one day - didn't work)

Ever since then the Podcasts app isn't automatically deleting my played episodes after 24 hours. All of the podcasts I'm subscribed to have the auto-delete setting turned on. And while they do disappear from underneath the "Played Episodes to be Deleted" heading after 24 hours, the files are not actually deleted from my phone.

I have an iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 9.3.4.

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I know having the Podcast app not automatically deleting after 24 hours is not what you expect. Based on what you stated, it seems you may be experiencing software issues that can be narrowed down and resolved with these steps:

1. First, restart your device as the shut down and start up process is important to keep the iOS software running properly:

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

2. If you're still not able to have the podcast auto-delete after 24 hours after restarting, then I would make a backup of your personal data next:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

3. Your next step is to Reset All Settings from Settings > General > Reset on your device. This resets all of your device’s settings like Wallpaper, Sounds, Display & Brightness, Background App Refresh, Date & Time, and removes all of your previously used Wi-Fi networks and passwords. Then test your auto-delete issue in the Podcast app again.
