Hello, I am in abdulrhman, I purchased a used iPhone 4s via the internet classifieds.
it is lock on a specified network (i don't know this network)

when the phone arrived i was rested it to the factory settings so i have to activate all over as i would with a new phone.

during the activation process (To set it as a new iPhone)
is pass through this steps

1. Selected preferred language

2. Selected my Country

3. Selected my WiFi

Now when it reaches Sim card activation..i put in my local sim card and it says "SIM Not Valid".

I don't know the carrier of this phone and there is no where to find this information.

I cannot afford to factory unlock this device right now but i want to use it as an iPod.

Can you help me please?

You can contact apple and provide the serial number and they can take a look at the profile to see who the service is linked to if the phone is not unlocked.

In order to activate the device, you will need a sim card. The sim card does not need to be active but does need to be a sim card compatible with the iPhone's carrier. You will the be able to activate the device and use it as an iPod without phone services.

Gevey sim is illegal in most parts of the world due to the way it abuses

the emergency calling system to function. Use of such a sim is considered

a hack and cannot be discussed in this forum. Using such a sim also

damages the built-in security in iOS and potentially opens your iPhone to

malware or hacking or take-over.

Using a Gevey sim will not get around the network lock. Follow the advice

you have been already given to find out to which network the iPhone is

currently locked.
