Q: What version of iWork do I need to get it to work on OS X 10.8.5?

I upgraded to 10.8.5 Mountain Lion from 10.6.8 back this past January.

I was running iWork '09 on 10.6.8.

I just installed this version, from disc, into OS X 10.8.5, then promptly updated it to last 9.3 update

The 9.3 update said the system requirements were OS X 10.7.4 or later.

All the apps launch and the top main menus appear in all of the apps, but nothing appears in the new document windows or the template choosers.

Those windows are empty with only a black/dark grey background.

I have reinstalled this software twice with the same result.

Was there another update for iWork for OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion beside the 9.3 update that I am not aware of?

iWork as it is is worthless on 10.8.5 right now.

Was there any bugs with iWork '09 that had another fix or something else to get this to work under 10.8.5?

Any help with this is appreciated.

Thanks, in advance.

Just wondering, I wonder of it's one of those Apple Apps that needs the Date set back to get a good install?

Have you tried using it in another account and in the Safe Mode?

    Solved

I found my solution here in ASC.

Problems with iWork '09 in Mountain Lion

Apparently, there is an additional iWork '09 folder in the (user)/Library/Application Support that something in there was hosed.

So, I trashed it, reinstalled iWork '09 from the install DVD (for the fifth and final time), then ran the iWork 9.3 update install, now everything seems to be working great!

The registration window appeared and filled that out, all of the intro windows pop up in each app now and all of the templates appear and all of my existing Pages and Keynote docs can all be opened, again.

You have no idea how vexxing this has been for me.

Been dealing with this iWorks issue for months...MONTHS!

One of the main reasons I couldn't fully commit to using Mountain Lion as I keep running/stumbling into roadblocks for so long.

Very happy I have finally got this working!

I was also, very VERY lucky to get a new, sealed full version of  Adobe CS 4 Design Premium for a really, REALLY awesome discounted price from someone on Amazon. The price for this was so amazing and a no brainer.

So, now I have many fewer reasons now to just go ahead and make this switch to. OS X 10.8.5!

Now, I'll have less items to have to bop back and forth from other OS X versions to have to work on certain things.

I am still operating on OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard, but I almost have everything I need loaded and setup in OS X 10.8.5 Mountain Lion to, FINALLY, make a permanent switch to a "newer" stable OS X.

I still have a few more issues and kinks and app alternatives to look into before I can confidently make this switch to Mountain Lion permanent ( or at least for as long as possible).

    Happy Camper!!!
