Q: Move kids iPods from mom's apple id

My kids have their iPod touch devices under my wife's apple id. They are now grown up to the point where we think its time for them to have their own apple ids. My wife will share her iTunes content with them. Two kids, two iPods. I have devised a plan and need to know if this is the correct way of doing it.

1: Backup iPods to cloud

2: Clean iPods as if selling them

3: Each kid uses their new email address to create apple id and set up their iPods

4: My wife shares her content from iTunes with them

My only concern is app data on each iPod, which will be lost once they are reset. Is their a way to change my steps, listed above, to accommodate for recovery of saved game data?

I will appreciate any suggestions. \

iPod touch, iOS 9.3.4

No reason to erase/restore the devices like when yo sell them.

Just create the Apple ID's and setup Family Sharing with the new IDs and the ID currently used on the kid's devices.

Then change the ID on the kid's device to the new ID's. When yo change the Game Center ID they may lose game status/progress

When you change the iCloud ID you should be offered to opting to retain iCloud data on the device (e.g., Contact, Calendar) do what you want
