my usage is high mem though which is why I went 16GB

Photos for MacI agree, however iMacs are sensitive to RAM. NEVER put RAM that you buy in a store in an iMac, chances are you will have trouble at some point. Most experienced users on these forums only recommend buying RAM from either Crucial (buy direct) or OWC (www.macsales.com). Considering your location, I would recommend Crucial. Both vendors supply high quality RAM and sell it for a reasonable amount.
