I know how important getting your new iPhone setup and listening to music is to you!Based on what you stated, it seems you may be experiencing some issues with communicating with the iTunes Store to access your past purchases. Here is what I suggest to resolve this issue and get your new iPhone working properly:
1. First, make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID that you made your past iTunes Store purchases with. This article shows the different places to check:

2. If you're still having an issue with music after following those steps, use the steps in this article to troubleshoot your iTunes Store connection issue and then try syncing music from iTunes on your computer to your iPhone:
If you can’t connect to the iTunes StoreSync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer using USB
