Aug 13, 2016 1:11 PM in response to Kimmie62by BobTheFisherman,★HelpfulForce quit Safari then relaunch Safari while pressing and holding the shift key. This will launch Safari without any extensions or plugins. If Safari works better you will have to remove all extensions you've installed and reinstall them one at a time until you find the offending Safari extension.

Aug 13, 2016 1:24 PM in response to BobTheFishermanby Kimmie62,No extensions. Safari was opening all my favorites into individual desktops, and not closing any of them when I quit Safari. Expose is now my new best friend, thanks to Adam at Rockingham Genius Bar!

Run Activity Monitor and see which specific task is hitting 100%. Each Safari tab will have its own process listed, with the web site URL as the process name. That makes it easy(er) to see which one is causing the problem. Unfortunately, sometimes entries in your "Top Sites" will be one that causes the problem.
