Q: Conflicting information on Ram

I have a mid 2011 iMac 27".  It has been running really slow for the past few months and I decided I would try putting some more RAM in it.  My computer says it takes 1067 mhz DDR3.  I just went to the Apple website and it says the computer takes 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM.  Now I don't know what to get.  Can anyone shed some light on this for me.

(see image with the info on both the computer and the website)

my understanding (feel free to correct me if I am wrong) is that if you mix and match ram modules in a mac, the machine will ONLY recognize the slower ram speed, meaning IF you have one chip or even three running at 1333 and ad one running at 1067, they will ALL run at 1067 and that is how the machine will report back.
so if the previous owner threw in slower ram, that's the speed all your memory will run at.
