How to show people's contact pictures in my conversations with them in Messages?

I've seen screenshots of people's conversations where above the contact name is the picture. Also in the bo left corner of the conversation instead of there being the little camera button, it's a small grey square with an arrow pointing to the right. I want to know how to make my conversations look like this if possible!!

Thank you.

This is what my messages look like on my Mac and iPhone 6 Plus (respectively)

Go to Settings>Messages>Show Contact Photos.

Like the previous post said, you have to go into each individual contact in order to edit their info and add a picture manually. If you have Facebook or Twitter linked to your phone, there's another option of uploading contact info from those sites to your contacts database, as well.

Hope this helps!
