Q: ghost flicker on screen iPhone 6 plus

The screen on my iPhone 6 Plus started to flicker today. A white band appears near the camera and randomly grows and disappears. It renders the screen untouchable. I can't open an app or scroll the screen. After restarting the flickering comes back, seemingly at random. It also starts opening apps randomly and clicking inside apps on things.

I have not dropped the phone and its not been in water. When it first happened, I did a software update to iOS 9.3.4 and a reset, it still is happening. Phone is out of warranty and not under AppleCare. I didn't do anything to the phone to make it malfunction, so I don't feel that this is my fault.

This appears to be an issue for others when I search online. Is Apple aware of this? Are there any fixes? Is this a hardware issue?

Thankfully, there’s an easy way to fix the iPhone 6 Plus frame drop issues as long as you’re willing to make a compromise. By going to Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Increase Contrast -> Reduce Transparency, and turning Reduce Transparency on, you’ll be able to make your iPhone 6 Plus as buttery smooth as it was before.

Its a very well known issue - to customers at least. And Apple, though be fast on trying to replace under warranty.
