Q: update IOS IPOD

How can i update OS 6.x from my IPOD to IOS 8.1.X?

when i try i have this message "Your IPOD software is up to date..." (using check for update or using iTunes)

This likely indicates that you have a 4th generation, which can not be upgraded further.
