Q: AppleMail with Google Mail Causing Shut Down
Hi,
I am using an iMac late 2012 and I started having issues where the iMac was completely shutting off with no warning (like pulling the power plug). The shut off would then not even respond to the power button, I would have to unplug the system for a few seconds and plug back in just to get it to restart.
After several hardware tests, safe mode boots and multiple reinstallation's of everything I was able to isolate this problem to my Apple Mail beginning to download my emails from a Google Apps Email account. Its hard to imagine but it does seem that some corrupted email is causing the whole system to shut down.
Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas on what I can do to try to get this working again?
Also, in case a suggested solution from one of you doesn't work or so I can continue to test what may resolve the issue, can someone give me a list of the files I need to delete from the library (or elsewhere) in order to completely restore Apple Mail to a freshly installed state removing all account info and downloaded emails in the event I need to do that from safe mode again?
Thanks.
iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)
