Ipad 2 broken after update

I found my Ipad 2 out today and started it up just fine. It asked me to update and then this is where it all went wrong. It shows the connect to itunes picture, so I downloaded Itunes to my computer and it does not recognise that it is connected. I tried to do a reset by holding down the home & sleep button and it does not bring up a screen, even after holding it for the right amount of time. I tried to get help and support and it says it does not recognise my serial number. I live in the UK and this is a Ipad unlocked from the USA. I have never had a problem like this before.


Can anyone please help?
