Q: Ipod classic 5th Gen is not recongnised by macbook pro (OSX El Capitan) or iTunes (12.3)!

Since updating my mac and iTunes it doesn't recognise at all my iPod 5th gen classic. Really frustrating seeing as I can not add or change any music on the device. Can someone help me out??

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding your 5th generation iPod is no longer seen in iTunes after updating. I surely understand how important it is to be able to manage music on your iPod. I am happy to help.

    1. Unplug all USB accessories from your computer and try each USB port to see if one works.
