Q: TC needs to be unplugged/replugged every morning so TM can find backup disc on TC?

Every morning my 3 Macs can't find the backup disc on my Time Capsule. (All devices with latest updates.) So I have to perform the following:

1) Unplug TC. Wait a minute, then plug back in.

2) Open TM preferences on all 3 computers, Select Disc, enter password, then TM finds the Disc and the backups work all day.

3) In the morning I wake up and the computers can't find the backup disc?

I have unchecked the box in iCloud for using Back to My Mac. I have erased the TC Backup Disc and started all over. I have done a hard reset on the TC.

I have a 2 month old Xfinity ARRIS Modem, model TG1682G wired to my 2 TB Tower Style TC running version 7.7.7. which in turned is attached to my main computer vie ethernet cable. All 3 computers are running 10.11.6.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Try removing any Back to my Mac entries from the Time Capsule, as per this discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7637445

If you can't see the TC in Airport Utility, disconnect the cable to your modem and then restart it - if the TC can't see Apple's Back to my Mac servers, they can't crash the Bonjour service in the TC.

I had this issue since last Fri (12th Aug), and had to re-select the TM disc after removing the BTMM entries, all seems perfect now.

Thanks for the suggestion. In Airport Utility the TC has no entries in "Back to my Mac" to remove?

Fair enough, but I feel that the disc is becoming unavailable to the Macs because some service or other (Bonjour or similar) is crashing on the TC.

You could try disconnecting your modem from the TC at the end of the day, to see if things stay working overnight if there is no "interference" from servers on the web...

Well, I tried unplugging the cable between the modem and TC for 2 nights in a row. After plugging the cable back into the TC, I experience the same problem; Time Machine can't find the Backup Disc on the Time Capsule with rebooting Time Capsule?

I have a feeling it's an issue with 10.11.6, as my backups have been working for years until now.

I believe I solved the problem. My main iMac was connected to the Time Capsule directly with an Ethernet Cable and the Wi-Fi was off to prevent conflicts, and the other 2 Mac laptops were connected to TC via Wi-Fi.

I removed the ethernet cable between my main iMac and the TC, and turned on the Wi-Fi. Now all 3 computers are linked to the TC Wirelessly with Time Capsule having no problems finding the backup disc in the morning. Yeah!
