Q: Hi8 thru HDV cam to FCP 7: Waiting for time code
Hi
I have a bunch of Hi8 tapes I'd like to capture to disk running it thru Sony CCD-TR400 to Canon HV-20 to MBPro & FCP 7.
I can see it running in the Capture window but when I hit Capture Now it gets no further than "Waiting for time code."
I assume the Hi8 is analog but was hoping the Canon with its AV>DV option would process it on its way thru.
Any ideas?
Is the only way to make this work would be recording to dv tape on Canon HV-20 and then capturing to disk?
best

Hi8 only uses re-writable consumer timecode (RCTC) which is not readable by FCP. In FCP's capture settings, set "Device Control" it to Non-Controllable Device and then use Capture Now instead of Batch Capture.
