Q: what wireless security should i check for my home use?  I am having major intermittent setvice

i am having very spotty wifi coverage the past 3 days and it is not the cable from the modem.  What security setting should i have checked?  I have tried factory reset button while plugging it in but that didn't do anything to resolve the problem.

iPad Pro, iOS 9.3.3

WPA2 Personal. Set security under the Wireless tab found in Airport Utility.

The default security on Apple base stations is the industry standard WPA2 Personal. No reason to change this unless you have an older wireless device that is not capable of connecting to the newer standard.

Normally however, the wireless security setting would not have anything to do with wireless signal strength or range. More likely, it is wireless interference from other WiFi networks around you that is affecting your wireless signal.

Click the WiFi icon at the top of your Mac's screen to see how many other wireless networks that you can "see" and report back on that finding.

Run Wireless Diagnostics to get a quick report of what the utility "sees" on your wireless network along with recommendations to improve things.   Simply hold down the option key on your Mac while you click on the WiFi menu at the top of the screen, then click on Open Wireless Diagnostics.
