Q: Find My iPhone - help/offline/insurance
I lost my iPhone, turned on the "find my iPhone" app in iCloud, which I know is also turned on in my iPhone settings, as I was recently at the Apple store and they double checked to ensure it was on. I tried calling it, and it rang, not to mention it had a full battery when I lost it, so I know the phone is on. However, it appears "offline" on the find my iPhone app. I've been trying to chat with the apple store but they keep asking for my phone's serial number just to get to the chat box - I obviously cannot provide that without my phone, nor can I call their help line as I do not have a phone. Therefore, I have a couple of questions.
1. Is there any way to get the find my iPhone app to work or am I screwed?
2. How can I get in touch with apple to further discuss my issue? Preferably via chat, as once again, I do not have access to a phone (really starting to miss my landline).
Bonus question: does apple care insurance cover the cost of a phone replacement if the phone was stolen?

1. Once the device is connected to wifi, and on, the Find My iPhone should work. See more -- iCloud: Find My iPhone overview
2. Ways to get in touch with Apple Support -- Official Apple Support, and they now have a Twitter account which is really very responsive.
Bonus question -- simple answer - no.
Bonus answer -- another way to find your serial number, i.e. via iTunes -- Find the serial number or IMEI on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch - Apple Support
Good luck.
